By installation, asset tracker GPS has 2 types:
- Magnetic Installation
Asset tracker with magnet is called magnetic GPS tracker. Normally they are big in size and there are 4 to 4 strong magnets embedded into the asset tracking device, making it easy to install on iron material like under vehicle chassis. The magnets are strong enough to not go loose while driving even on bumpy roads.
- Normal installation.

By working theory, asset tracking GPS also has 2 types:
- Rechargeable battery device
A magnetic car tracker with a rechargeable battery can be charged when power is low. If power is below 15%, the magnetic tracking device shall stop sending data to the server. Rechargeable batteries range from 600 mah, 800mAh, 1000mAh, 1500mAh, 2500mAh, 3000mAh, 5000mAh, 10000mAh and 20000mAh. The larger battery the longer the working time.
- Non-rechargeable battery device
Magnetic GPS tracker for car with non-rechargeable batteries works by a pre-set long interval, normally every 24h hrs. At rest time, it goes to deep sleep mode so as to save power and the battery can last over 3 years. In case of emergency, it can activate real-time tracking mode, however, the battery shall consume fast. When the battery is used out, needs replace with a new battery.
